13th Macau Myanmar Overseas Chinese Water Festival

The ‘Thingyan’ Water Festival – in which participants splash water over each other to attract good fortune and cast out bad luck – is one of the most significant annual events in the Myanmar calendar. It is also believed that the aater festival washes away sins. With an increasing number of Myanmar people residing in Macau, this age-old tradition has become popular practice here as well.

In celebration of the 13th Macau Myanmar Overseas Chinese Water Festival, a series of programmes will be held over a period of four days, with the annual carnival and festooned vehicle parade eagerly anticipated. Food stalls featuring classical South East Asian cuisine are another attraction of the festival, as are the numerous cultural shows that draw locals and visitors alike to the old Three Lamps District.

Festooned Vehicle Parade: 26 & 27 Apr / 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. / Macau, Taipa & Coloane(Starting point: In front of Hotline Centre, Alameda Dr. Carlos d'Assumpção, No. 335-341)Myanmar & South East Asia Delicacy & Cultural Festival: 26 Apr / Noon to 10:30 p.m. (Traditional Song & Dance Gala is held at 8:00 p.m.) / Three Lamps District (Rotunda de Carlos da Maia)

Macau Myanmar Overseas Chinese Water Festival Photographs Exhibition: 25 to 28 Apr / 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. / Tourism Activities Centre, Rua de Luis Gonzaga Gom.

Amanda Decena on Britain's Got Talent 2008

Wow! When I first saw this video I almost cried hahaha... Yeah, really... She has a very beautiful voice... The way you see the people standing and clapping for her and almost teary-eyed, it makes you so proud of her. I don't know her but I could tell she got a shot on that contest. Even Simon Cowell was amazed by her voice, well not just Simon, the other judges too and ofcourse the audiences who were in standing ovation... Whew! Galing talaga ng mga PINOY... I wish that she can make it to the finals... :)

Sana lang yung ibang mga Pinoy din na may mga talents ay magkakaroon ng chance na maipakita ang kanilang mga talento di lamang sa ibang bansa kundi sa atin na rin.

Stranded...

I've heard that The Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) issued a tropical cyclone warning for typhoon 'Neoguri'.The warning forecasted strong winds and rain with a signal no. 8! It's my first time to experience this..

It's been raining for the whole day yesterday and I was about to go out but the strong wind and rain stopped me from going... I think it's not safe outside, I could see how the wind blew off the trees near our flat and there's only a few people on the streets. So I decided to stay on our flat and watch movies instead... :)

I grab some chips and drinks and started watching DISTURBIA...a very nice film... :)

After his father was killed in a car accident, things unravel for Kale Brecht and he is placed under house-arrest for punching his Spanish teacher. Having nothing better to do, Kale occupies himself by spying on his neighbors. But one night, he witnesses what appears to be a murder going on in Mr. Turner's house. Kale becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth behind these murders but, after a few unsettling run-ins with Mr. Turner, it becomes a matter of life and death. And the ominous question: Who is watching who?

The movie shows the routined life of Lester Burnham(Kevin Spacey) father of Jane Burnham(Thora Birch) and how simple things in life can change a persons way o living and thinking. Simultaneously shows the life of Jane Burnham(Thora Birch) a teenager discovering love. It is movie of a man "snapping" out of his life-routine, discovering how wonderful life is.

After Watching American Beauty I've fallen asleep and I woke up at around 8 p.m. When I looked at the window, the rain already stopped yet the wind's still strong... Felt hungry and I'm too lazy to cook so I went outside but some of the restaurants were already closed. As I walk I noticed some twigs on the streets, leaves, plastics, papers, caps, etc., I saw a broken signage fell off in pieces, the wind must've blew it off... I continued to walk and went to Park & Shop and I'm glad they're still open. Bought a meal box then I headed home. When I arrive I started eating while listening to my mp3, used chopsticks again hehehe... I've been practicing using those too... was so full and I started to watch another movie....

The architect Michael Newman has a typical middle-class family with his lovely and gorgeous wife Donna and their son Ben and daughter Samantha, and a constant visit of his parents. However, Michael is workaholic and under stress, trying to satisfy his boss with overwork and get a partnership in his company, giving priority to his work and neglecting the family issues. When the tired Michael goes to a department store to buy an universal remote control, he rests on a bed and he meets the weird salesman Morty that offers him a remote control capable of controlling his own universe. Michael uses too much and loses the control of the device, having his own life controlled by the remote control. Then Michael sees the worthwhile parts of his personal life he missed while working, and in the end of his life he lately concludes that the family comes first.
How far would an ordinary father go to spend more time with his children? Daniel Hillard is no ordinary father, so when he learns his ex-wife needs a housekeeper, he applies for the job. With the perfect wig, a little makeup and a dress for all occasions, he becomes Mrs. Doubtfire, a devoted British nanny who is hired on the spot. Free to be the "woman" he never knew he could be, the disguised Daniel creates a whole new life with his entire family.

A day at Zhu Hai, China...

My sister, mom and my niece visited me here in Macau from Hong Kong. it's just an hour away from there and it's been a while since the last time I saw them. Missed them a lot...I waited for them at the Ferry Terminal's arrival area. When my nine year old niece saw me, she suddenly ran towards me, jumped and hugged me so tight... I was surprised she did that it's a good thing we didn't fell off... My mom and sister were laughing because they didn't see that coming too hehehe... I hugged her back, missed her a lot though she's sometimes 'makulit', then she didn't want to let go of me hahaha... I'm so happy that they were here now...

We went to Zhu Hai, China afterwards... We bought some stuffs there, ate at Ajisen Ramen, a japanese restaurant, the food was great, then we stroll around the mall... When we were on our last stop, buying some chinese delicacies, it was just right then when Ate gaga noticed her cellphone was not in her wrist anymore. She asked me if it was with me and I said no. We didn't notice it because we're so busy looking at stuffs so they went back to the shops we've been through but it's not there... I like that phone pa naman and all her files were there, my nieces taekwondo videos on her promotion tests, pictures, numbers and other important stuffs. I tried to call her number but it's not available... Someone must've had that already and turned it off... *sigh* This is the second time my sister lost her cellphone and the first time was in China too, just don't know where exactly is it... It was just on her bag and when she was about to use it, it's not there anymore. Amazing kaayo mga kawatan didto dah... My mom told us to really keep an eye on our things because there are lots of thieves there... My brother-in-law's bag was slit by thieves too in Beijing. So whenever you go there you should really be careful not just in there but also in other places where there are lots of people.

I can still remember my niece said: "The people here in China were good at stealing." then I told her to lower down her voice maybe someone might hear her and someone just did, she was staring at us while carrying her baby... hehehe... She was mad because her videos and pictures were there and it's the second time her mom lost her phone it's in the same country. It's about ten when we arrived back here in Macau, inspite of what had happened we we're still thankful that nothing bad happened to us, physically... My mom tried to console her and we bought some ice cream when we arrive on our place...:)

Pinoy Ako!

In Hong Kong people sometimes mistook me as a Chinese but when they started to strike a conversation with me, there they would know that I am not. Hahaha... But here in Macau, a lot of people mistook me as an Indonesian... Wahhh!!! At first it was just okay but now it's somewhat annoying already, even other Filipinos think that I am an Indonesian... *sigh* Do I really look like one??? Waahhh... I don't want to believe nor accept that...

First encounter with a Pinoy guy in a shop.

He was looking at me and said:

Guy: Indonesian?

Me: No, Filipina.

Guy: Oh, I thought you're an Indonesian.

Second encounter with a guy in a bus stop. I was waiting for the bus to arrived and There's this guy who keeps on looking at me...

Guy: Nepali? Nepali? (in a very fast tone).
Me: (Puzzled) What??
Guy: Nepali?
Me: No.
G:Oh, Malaysian?
M: No.
G: Indonesian?
M: No.
G: (thinking...) Ahh.. Thailand?
M: No.Then he stopped guessing... so i said "Philippines, Filipino."
G: Oh i see and smiled...

Third encounter: I was sitting on the bench and there are two ladies near me talking, I don't know what language is it but I think it's Indonesian. After a while her companion left, she looked at me and said: Indonesian?" Then I said: Pinay.
Female: Ah.. Akala ko Indonesian ka. (Ah, I thought you were an Indosian.)
Me: Filipina po pala kayo? (So you're a filipina? ) I thought she wasn't because I just heard them talking in a different language. Then she asked me the usual questions like: "Since when did you arrive here in Macau?" and so on…

Fourth encounter:

I was walking agian... then there's this man who keeps on looking at me, after a while he asked me: Indonesian"? Then I thought, not again! So I said "No, Filipino."
He said: "Oh, I thought you are Indonesian because your face (with action pa ha) you look like Indonesian."

Another one, just recently, I was waiting for an available computer in a cafe near our flat... I sit down and tried to open my mp3 so I could listen to my favorite songs while waiting. There's this guy who keeps on looking at me (as in tutok gyud taod-taod). Then he sit beside me, still looking, it somewhat distracts me... I thought: Ingon ani na ba ko ka-gwapa kay sige man gyud siya ug tutok nako? (Am I really this beautiful for him to keep on looking at me?) hahaha... (pamati kayo noh?) Well, he's good looking baya.. hehehe... After a few minutes he bombs the question: Are you Indonesian? Well, I thought he was Di.Ka.Ingon (lol) Waaahhh! Naa napud ni na pangutana bah... Hay...
Me: No, Filipino. You?

Guy: Leban.
Me: Leban? Lebanese?
Guy: Yes, Lebanese... You work?
Me: No...

I put my earphones and start listening to my mp3, I don't want to talk to him... Gikapoy nako ug istorya nila! But he's still looking at me... Ah bahala ka mag-sige ka tan-aw... Hay... I wanted to shout out loud: FILIPINO AKO! I'm not an Indonesian or whatever nationality!

Ako ay Pilipino, Ako ay Pilipino
Isang bansa isang diwa
Ang minimithi ko
Sa Bayan ko't Bandila
Laan Buhay ko't Diwa
Ako ay Pilipino, Pilipinong totoo
Ako ay Pilipino, Ako ay Pilipino
Taas noo kahit kanino Ang Pilipino ay Ako!

*Bow....* hehehehe...

Just now there's this Filipino guy whó talks to me in English, he thought that I'm not a Filipino. Hay.... Naunsa na ning world?? What do you think? Don't I look like a Filipino??? Be the judge. I have a photo at the side bar. Tell me, what do you think?

Blue Moon

I'm not really a fanatic of local films, expect for some movies I know which really has a good story... I saw this VCD entitled 'Blue Moon' in my brother-in-law's apartment but I wasn't really interested in watching it but I had no other choice, the other DVD's and VCD's won't play and so I started watching it...

The movie was about an elderly woman named Corazon who was writing a love letter to every Manuel Pineda listed in the Philippine Directory, identifying herself as his long-lost love. Meanwhile, Manuel was diagnosed with cancer and has a few months to live, so he decides that before dies, he wants to find the woman he loved the most which he hasn't seen for decades: Corazon. He travelled to Laoag and tried to find her but she wasn't there. He gets drunk and slept outside the Capitol and was brought to the police station. On the other hand, his son Rod and grandson Kyle was worried where he could be and tried to call the police. An information was then said to them that Manuel was in Laoag and off they go to bring him back. As he travel with his emotionally distant son and recently separated grandson in his search for his lady love, they discover that there were actually two ladies named Corazon in Manuel's life: The nurse whom Manuel married after World War II, which was Rod's mother and Kyle's grandmother, and the spunky girl who was Manuel's first love in 1938.

Domingo, Corazon and Azon (another Corazon too) were Manuel's best friends. Manuel was inlove with Azon not knowing Corazon has a secret crush on him. Unfortunate news arrives when Azon tells Manuel that her mother wants to move far away and she asks Manuel to come with them, but Manuel declines. Azon then gives him a piece of her pendant, and tells him that if the pendant returns to her necklace then they are meant to be together.

Not long after, Manuel and Domingo join the army, and war erupted. Azon tried to find a way to say goodbye to Manuel, but was unable to reach him. However, she managed to meet Domingo, who explained the situation. Azon gave Domingo her address and told him to tell Manual to find her.
During the war, Domingo and Manuel are captured by the enemy. Domingo is so wounded badly that he can't walk. Domingo gives Azon's address to Manuel and then forces him to leave. Manuel reluctantly leaves his friend, and eventually survives the war. He is reunited with Corazon in a hospital, where she is a nurse. During this time, Corazon and Manuel fall in love.

Cora soon got pregnant, and she marries Manuel. After Cora gives birth, she decides to leave Manuel because she believes that he is still in love with Azon. Before she leaves, she gives him half a picture of her, saying that if the two halves are reunited again, that means that they are meant to be together.

Manuel became very sick and there they knew that he only has a few months to live. His son and grandson were off to search his long lost love for Manuel's happiness... They've tried to print ads regarding Manuel's search for Corazon, later a televesion reporter saw the ads and tried to contact them... Soon Manuel's story was broadcast nationwide and a lot of Corazon wannabe's where lining up to see Manuel...

A young Manuel Pineda (one of the man listed in the Philippine Directory who receives Corazon's letter but is not related to the real Manuel Pineda) saw the ads and call Corazon straight from the U.S. to let her know about information he got on television. Corazon then flew from Boston Massachusettes to the Philippines in search for her long-lost love... Rod went home to see his dad's house and was so happy to receive a letter from Corazon, they hurriedly went to the hospital with her daughter-in-law, Peggy. Kyle was there in the T.V. network hoping to find what they've been searching for. An elderly woman approach him and told him that she was informed that there are lots of fake Corazon lining up and he agreed. The woman then held out a half torn photo and said that it might help them. Kyle was surprised to see the photo of young Manuel and was so happy he hugged her. He then accompanied her to see Manuel in the hospital and there they finally see each other...

Kyle was playing cupid and finds ways to get a player so that Manuel and Corazon could have the dance they've been longing for. The couple went to the rooftop and was accompanied by nurses and Kyle ofcourse. Rod arrived and saw her father with an elderly woman. Kyle to his dad: Dad, remember the photo if it'll reunite? It was grandmother we've been looking for all along. Rod held out the half torn photo of her mother and reunite the two photos, while Manuel and Corazon were dancing under the blue moon... Manuel soon died but they know that he's happy before joining His creator because he had seen Corazon, finally danced her and let her know how much he loved her...

Blue Moon is such a beautiful true story it made me cry...

Cantonese Language

I've been to Hong Kong for a month and now I'm here in Macau... Their Language were just the same, they speak Mandarin but mostly they used Cantonese.

I've studied in Chinese School in Davao City. Our School teaches Mandarin lessons but I wasn't interested way back then... I even failed on my first grade, got no tutor and my parents were pure Filipinos. So I really had a hard time learning the language as it is all new to me. Eventually I manage to do so but like I said I'm not really interested, so i only know a few characters. I can still recall some of it, some I already forget. Cantonese sounds like mandarin too, their characters were written the same except on the way you speak the language.

I've learned some basic Cantonese during my stay in Hong Kong and here in Macau, so here are some of the basics I want to share with you all...

English: - Cantonese:
How are you? - Nei ho ma?
I am fine - Ngoh gei ho
Good morning - Jo san
Excuse me - m goi
Thank you - doh je
Please - cheng
A little - siu siu
Yes / No - Hai / m hai
Yes (I have) - Yau
No (I don’t have) - Mo ah
Okay / Good - ho
Not good - m ho
I don’t understand - Ngoh m ming baak
Do you speak English? - Nei sik m sik gong ying man a?
Hurry up - Faai di
Goodbye - Baai baai

I know how to write some of the characters but there are some also that

I don't know and some I forgot it's meaning. if just studied hard and really

tried to learn and understnad the language, I wouldn't look like an idiot

infront of these chinese people everytime they talk to me... Past is past

and it's really hard to learn and understand on something you're not

interested, right? hehehe...

Garlic Candy

I was walking, again alone in one of the streets here in Macau... When I pass by a lady chopping something brownish in tiny cubes... I look closer to see what is it, it looks yummy, smells good and familiar. The lady looked at me, grab a tiny piece and hand it to me... I could try it? I asked... She nodded and gestures go ahead eat it... Cool! I thought and I said thank you and smiled at her... It was indeed tasty... As I continue to walk, I started to taste something... It's hot, whew! what is this? Garlic? waaahhhh... It's tasty really but I smell garlic now... hahahaha... dah! tagam...

What are the benefits of having a website?

Everyone wants to learn something new; they need information especially on the Internet where they can easily access any sites that can feed them the right information that they wanted. A lot of us already have our own website and each one has a different purpose; may it be for personal, educational, business and etc.

Having your own website is a plus factor especially for business purposes as it is one way of gaining clients and prospective clients. Your clients on the other hand will have an easy access to all the merchandise, services, or anything that your website has to offer. Net businessman will no longer have to worry about advertising their products or services without spending much.

As for websites that contains educational content, anyone who visits the site will gain information on whatever subject they’ve been trying to obtain and if they’re satisfied with it they might recommend that website to others which in return will make your website popular and more searchable.

Having your own personal website could help you express yourself to others, sharing your thoughts, ideas, creativity, talents, works or basically information about yourself. You could also exchange your knowledge or information with others who are also visiting your website, so it’s not just them who will gain something from you, you can also learn from each others opinions and experiences.

Scary Night

I watched 'Sukob' last night, I've actually seen this movie in the cinema but there's no other DVD left in my brother-in-law's flat so I watched it again... I was all alone in the room and somehow I felt a little scared, I treid to relax but the movie's sound effects was so loud it makes me jump off the bed and shout out loud... hahaha... It was almost midnight and I'm afraid my brother-in-law's boardmates might woke up hearing me shouting so instead of using the speaker on the portable DVD player, I used earphones instead... but I didn't stand all those 'pakurat-kurat' na scenes hahahaha... I tried to lower down the volume but couldn't hardly hear the character's voices, but when it comes to the scary scenes the sound effect's way too loud... Trying to scare the hell out of you, but I wasn't really that scared just a little surprised by it's effects. I remember I dind't even get scared or even shouted when I watched this in the cinema... Maybe coz I'm all alone ? hahaha...

Well, the movie was good but I like Feng Shui better... I remember watching it alone on DVD at home in Davao... I was a bit scared but it was on the last part where I got really scared that I ran all the way to our room and left our T.V. and DVD player open... It took me a while to go out again and hurriedly unplug the plugs from the sockets without turning it off properly.... hahahaha... 'May inuwi si nanay sa bahay...' wwwaahhh....

If I could...

If I could just kill this feeling... but how?

This heart of mine's so foolish... who's to blame?

If I just listen to what my mind's been shouting for...

I shouldn't be living behind your shadow...

If I could had just let the moment pass by...

I shouldn't be walking on broken glass now...

Programming Language: ENGLISH

There are lots of Filipinos here in Macau and I find the Filipinos here more friendlier than in Hong Kong... Everywhere you go someone will greet you or ask you: "Pinoy ka?"", then I answered "Oo", then they would say ""Kabayan! Kumusta?"The ususal talk like: "Kailan ka pa dito sa Macau? "Taga san ka sa atin?" Some would just nod and smile when you walk in the streets... "Iba talaga ang Pinoy."

I was in the bus with some of my boardmates then I sat next with this one pinoy guy... We talked... Let's just call him "B".

B: Hay, ang iingay ng mga intsik noh? grabe sakit sa tenga...
Me: Oo nga eh...
B: Akala mo kung ano na nangyari o nag-aaway sila pero normal lang pala sa kanila ang ganyang usapan.
Me: (Smiling.) Taga san ka pala?
B: Laguna, ikaw?
Me: Ah, i see... Davao ako...
B: Ano course mo?
Me: Computer Engineering, ikaw?
B: Computer Science.
Me: Ah, talaga? So, magaling ka magprogram?
B: Medyo. Two year course lang yun.
Me: Talaga? May ganun ba?
B: Oo, nung mga 1990's meron pa tpos nun lang naging four years. Me: Ah ganun bah, so ano-anong mga Language ang alam mo?
B: Language? English.
Me: Programming Language?

B: English. English.

I was silent for a while and was about to laugh out loud but I don't want to make a scene or something and I don't want to make him feel that I know he's lying. Well, somehow, I think he knew it... I know this guy is not a Computer Science graduate neither he's taking up one because if he is, he should have known atleast one or he would know what a Programming Language is, right? hehehe...

*Ako pa niya wala na lang siya nangatik gud... Wa may mawala cguro kung musulti siya ug tinuod di ba? hehehehe...*

An Angel in Disguise...

There are still a few in this world who would love to help other people... Someone who thinks of others first before himself, who doesn't think of whatever we can offer in exchange for their act of kindness... Instead they help in any way they can offer to achieve whatever is your purpose of being in this side of the world... It may not be of monetary value but just the simple gesture of kindness and patience in you is what matters most...

Indeed, God is really good... all the time... (hehehe.. you know that song?) He knows where to lead us when we're lost. We may not see that He's working on it but He sends someone to help and guide us to the right path... I'm very thankful to God for giving me the opportunity to meet this kind of people, it's not everyday that you stumble upon an angel, an angel without a halo... :)
