Davao City bags 14 Golds in Athletic Meet

CITY OF MATI, Davao Oriental -- Davao City struck a total of 14 gold, eight silver, and two bronze medals to pull away from the field in the elementary division after 18 events played in the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet 2009 swimming competition at the Mati Centennial Sports Complex.

The Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) was at distant second with a 2-4-3 gold-silver-bronze record, while Mati (1-0-3), Panabo City (1-0-1), Compostela Valley (0-6-7), and Davao Oriental (0-0-2) trailed behind.

The race for the secondary division dominance, however, remained tight between rivals Panabo City and Davao City. Panabo hauled nine golds, one silver, and six bronzes, while Davao City bagged seven golds, 10 silvers, and three bronzes thus far.

The Sports of my Life

Ever since I was a kid I had learned to love basketball. I know it's not the sport you would think I would be interested in because I was so small back then and because of the fact that I am a girl. I love playing it at school or even in our neighborhood. Most of my playmates are boys, I rarely had a girl to play with in that sport except in school. Small but terrible, that's what I always hear from my classmates, schoolmates, and friends whenever I am playing basketball. My father (may his soul rest in peace) loved basketball too and he was once a player. We share the same interests and would watch a basketball game together, although we had different choices of teams and we seldom argue because of that.

Then, I stopped playing basketball when I was introduced to a sport named Taekwondo. Since then, I rarely go out and play with my friends anymore because I was hooked up with the new sport that I have learned. I really wanted to learn martial arts when I was still young, my ulterior motive for wanting to join was to defend myself from the bullies at school. I never got the chance to learn it not until during my college days. Since then I have kept on practicing a lot and joined tournaments. Taekwondo had a very great impact on my life, it is in this sport that I gained more self-esteem and learned discipline and hard work.

Watching sports videos online is one of the things that I like to do in my free time. If you are looking for interesting video clips, there are a lot of sports clips available online on SportsVids. From a basketball game that you missed watching to any kind of sport available online. You can visit the site and try to upload your most memorable video which makes a huge impact in your life.

It's fun to see your videos being watched by others and it's fun to watch other's memorable experiences as well. Visit sportsvids.com and join the contest, and who knows, you might win those cool gadgets for their prizes.

Taekwondo Best Knockouts

Galing noh? Halos puro 'Turning Long' ang mga finale kick...

I can still remember when I had my first and last tournament in Taekwondo... The 3rd Mindanao Taekwondo Championship was held at SM City Davao Entertainment Plaza. I was still in college at that time when the AMA Club Taekwondo joined the said event and a lot of participants from all over Mindanao were there too... I've practiced so hard for that event but when the time comes for me to fight it seems that my feet can't move and am shaking (waahhh...) I was really nervous because my opponent was a brown belter and I was just a yellow belter, next to white belt...

Well, I lose the fight but it was a great fight, a great experience, the score was 2-1, not bad right? Atleast hindi ako na knockout... hahaha...
