Obama Nominates Sonia Sotomayor for Supreme Court - Washington Post

President Barack Obama's nominee for an upcoming vacancy on the Supreme Court is a lifelong Yankees fan from the Bronx who is credited in some quarters - including, it seems, the White House- with having "saved baseball" from the longest strike in sports history.

Sotomayor is a former trial judge who has served 11 years on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan.
